The stress of getting ready to go back to school can be hard to manage sometimes. Everything from choosing classes to moving into your new home can seem overwhelming and the last thing you want to worry about is what you have to wear. Throwing on Uggs and yoga pants seems like the easiest thing to do but somehow I never feel prepared for my day when I do this. I took some time and asked girls what are the issues the face in getting ready for school. “When I have an early class I don’t want to have to get up even earlier and think about what to wear.” – Stephanie Smolinski.
Most people face the same problem, they want to look pulled together but don’t want to take the time and effort to do it. “I wish I was more motivated to get ready for class, but I just want to throw on something easy.” – Mirna Garcia. However, I have found that if you have a few staples in your closet you will feel completely prepared and look great with out the hassle when classes start.
1) Black Skinny Pants - Which can be anything from leggings to jeans. Black goes with everything and usually is the most flattering color. My favorite right now are BDG from Urban outfitters they are a great price and a great fit.
2) Chunky Sweater – I am a sucker for cableknit sweaters so those are always my go to. I usually like mine a little bigger so they can be great for layering. I keep my colors a little more basic so I go for a charcoal grey color, but the choice is entirely up to you.
3) Cargo Jacket - You can choose the color and detailing for this one! Mine is black with a cool studded pattern on the back.
4) Cozy-Comfy Scarf – I usually like a scarf to be 2 things. The first is cashmere because a scarf is meant to keep you warm and that is the best material. The other is an infiniti style because you can wrap it around your neck a few times and it comes in just about every color. My favorite color combo is grey with black stripes.
5) Cool Kicks - My go to right now are white converse and pull on black short booties. Really, it just depends on the weather when I decide which ones to wear.
6) Favorite T – This one has taken me a while to find but usually I know I will like it if it is lightweight, V-neck, loose and a soft material. When I find the ones I love though I will buy it in every color.
7) Backpack – Normally, when I hear this word I think of the Lisa Frank purple cheetah print backpacks (if you’re a 90’s baby you know what I am talking about). Lucky for us though this style has definitely evolved and now it can really be anything from an actually backpack to a tote bag. It just needs to be something that will actually fit what you need for class. I carry a big black tote that way I can put everything I need in it, plus no matter what crazy colors I decide to wear it goes with everything and looks good.
Hopefully this was helpful and now you can get dressed for class with ease and style.
