ULZZANG MAKEUP TUTORIAL
Since it is the final project for this semester, I really want to share with you guys my favorite make-up tutorial and I hope you guys will love it. The reason I combine the tutorial video and blog together to show my audiences is because I hope they can understand the steps more clearly. I also interview two of my friends about what they think about Ulzzang make up style.
WHAT IS ULZZANG STYLE?
Ulzzang means "best face" in Korean, but the term has expanded in popular culture to refer to a subtle South Korean style. Originally used to refer to the large eyes, small lips, high nose bridges, and pale milky complexion of Korean fashion models, Ulzzang status became popular in the wake of Cyworld picture contests, in which voters would select among the most stylish photographs submitted. Nowadays, Ulzzang style is not only popular in Korea, but also among in some Asian countries. As a Chinese girl, I am so interested in this kind of make-up style, and I expend this style into more spring feeling.
HOW TO DO?
Circle contact lenses are the key part of the Ulzzang style. You don’t have to have naturally big eyes to give the illusion of Ulzzang style. Many Ulzzang models love colorful lenses such as pink or blue, but for me I prefer brown or gray, which are more naturally color for my original eye color. For my tutorial, I choose gray color lenses and wear lenses only for some special situation but not for my daily life.
Using a think layer of eyeliner. Paired with contact lenses, a highlighting note of eyeliner will make your eyes really “pop out”. Apply mascara to the tip of your eyelashes. You may also apply false eyelashes if you want to, but make sure your eyelashes aren't thick. Ulzzang is notable for its use of natural-looking skin tones in the make-up, so you don't want the lashes to look heavy or clumpy.
Use nude eyeshadow for your make-up. It is best to sweep a white or shine eyeshadow across the lids and keep the make-up clear. In my tutorial, I choose brown as base and pink as top color. Because I think we should need some spring color for this current season, so I choose pink as my key eyeshadow color.
For lipstick, I select cherry red color liquid lipstick from Etude House. And then put glossy skin tones on my lips and it is perfect for cultivating the Ulzzang look. I want to highlight and emphasize my own natural beauty, making it look simple and cute.
